Dunk Session

Everyone is trying to catch up with this up-and-down point guard, including Austin Brown in this week's Jumping the Waiver Wire.

Swirling trade rumors between Milwaukee and Memphis reminded many owners of the two struggling backup point guards on each team. And now more than a week later, even though the rumors have been debunked, new circumstances have revamped the value of the two guards, who showcase this edition of Jumping the Waiver Wire.

Ramon Sessions (Owned in 42 percent of all Yahoo! leagues) Michael Redd is out for the season and Charlie Bell has an ongoing ankle injury, so look for Sessions to play big minutes at two-guard in the near future and if he plays well maybe earn those minutes for the rest of the season. The former second round pick has proved that when given floor time, he can be a very valuable fantasy asset. Conley back again? From shooting guard, Sessions won’t be able to rack up the 11 assists he did for fantasy owners last April, but he should still average nice numbers in the cat, adding points and steals. His likelihood to start is in question and so is his status on the trading block so proceed with caution.

Mike Conley (Owned in 29 percent of all Yahoo! leagues) It is believed that the Grizzlies are showcasing Conley in an effort to pawn him off on some team who doesn’t know any better. The fact of the matter is last year’s fourth overall pick has been a relative bust in his short NBA career, averaging a measly eight points and three assists from the bench most of his sophomore season. On a much nicer note, he has started his last four games and his averages are up to 10.3 PPG, 1.8 3PTM, 4 APG and 1.5 SPG. There’s a new coach in town (a former NBA point guard that loves to push the ball) and Conley’s stock has nowhere to go but up. If you’ve got an extra bench spot lying around it would be wise to invest in his services to see if he can keep it up.

Kyle Korver (Owned in 14 percent of all Yahoo! leagues) Andrei Kirilenko might require surgery for a bad ankle that would keep him out 3-4 weeks. If he does Korver will see his minutes bumped and like Sessions, he’s showDeAndre!n before that when given the minutes he can do some damage. On Saturday against a tough defensive team in Cleveland, without Kirilenko, Korver saw 29 minutes and went for 15 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, two 3-pointers. Lines like that make it hard not to get excited.

DeAndre Jordan (Owned in 14 percent of all Yahoo! leagues) Marcus Camby was listed as questionable and did not make it to Sunday’s loss against Golden State. In that game Jordan scored eight points and grabbed 20 rebounds. The numbers were inflated because he was playing the Warriors but in his three games as a starter this week, Jordan is averaging 11 points, 13 boards and 2 blocks. Even when Camby gets back Jordan has established himself as someone deserving of minutes in the Clippers rotation. Look for him to leapfrog last week’s pick, Brian Skinner, on the depth chart and start seeing 25 – 30 minutes a night.

Anthony Morrow (Owned in 9 percent of all Yahoo! leagues) The kid is back to stroking the ball. It seems that there’s always a Golden State wing player or two out with an injury and as long as Morrow keeps knocking down his shots he should earn minutes. Over his last two games, he’s averaging 18 points and three 3-pointers in 36 minutes. With Marco Belinelli and Jamal Crawford Sasha P.due back soon, look for Morrow’s next week to possibly be his most productive one for a while.

Sasha Pavlovic (Owned in 5 percent of all Yahoo! leagues) Pavlovic, part of the three headed monster eating up Delonte West’s minutes, has done good things for fantasy owners his last five games, averaging 11.6 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 2.6 APG, 1 SPG and 2.2 3PTM on 54 percent shooting in 34 minutes. The Cavs have proven to be winners this year and West was a key cog in their engine. Look for Pavlovic to continue his solid play and hopefully knock down shots in an effort to keep the Cavs afloat in vying for the top spot in the East.
