Warner, Coles sign, among others PDF Print E-mail

Kurt Warner signed for big money in the desert.

Tuesday was a busy day in NFL free agency, but Kurt Warner re-signing with the Arizona Cardinals made the biggest noise.

Warner and the Cardinals agreed on a two-year, $23 million deal, which more than likely means that Warner will retire in a Red Birds uniform. The deal includes $19 million guaranteed.

The 37-year-old has also said that he's willing to give back some of the money on his deal if it means that the organization can keep disgruntled wide receiver Anquan Boldin, who remains under contract through 2010.

The signing is great news for Warner's fantasy value as it would have taken a hit if he would have went to Frisco, where they don't nearly have the weapons that Arizona has. Issac Bruce and Arnaz Battle don't stack up to the likes of

Larry Fitzgerald and possibly Boldin.

However, the signing isn't good news for Matt Leinart. With Warner locked in for two more years, don't be surprise to see Leinart ask the organization for a trade.

With T.J. Houshmanzadeh now in Seattle, the Cincinnati Bengals helped their receiving core by signing Laveranues Coles to a four-year, $28 million deal.

Coles is a bit of a drop off compared to Houshmanzadeh in terms of production. He's had only three 1,000+ receiving seasons in his nine-year career, but he's going to a lot better QB situation in Cincy, where Carson Palmer is expected to be back at 100 percent, after recovering from a partially torn ligament and tendon in the elbow.

He'll fit nicely alongside Chad Johnson in the Bengals offense.

Another receiver, Devery Henderson, has re-signed with the New Orleans Saints. The 26-year-old, who is arguably coming off the best season of his career, is a guy that won't be a number one or two guy on any fantasy teams, but he's a solid guy to have on your bench to fill in on bye weeks.

The Denver Broncos continue to remain busy during free agency as they signed both Chris Simms and LaMont Jordan to two-year deals.

Simms gives the Broncos some insurance at QB after the organizations relationship has turned sour with starting QB Jay Cutler.

It's puzzling to see what exactly Denver is doing at the running back position as the team has now signed Jordan, JJ. Arrington and Correll Buckhalter all during this off-season. Those three to go along with Ryan Torain and Peyton Hillis will make for an interesting competition during camp.

He might not be Kurt Warner, but the San Francisco 49ers are pleased to get Damon Huard as their backup. Huard more than likely won't give Shaun Hill much of a challenge during camp, but if struggles at the beginning of the year, the team probably won't hesitate to put Huard in there.

Testimonials

The Fantasy Lounge is a great place all-around. It has active members, which in turn leads to many discussions all across the field. Also the knowledge here is top of the line, I play Baseball, Basketball, and Football, and if I have a trade that I can't afford to mess up on, I know I can count on The Lounge to help me with quick and VERY helpful responses.... Also if fantasy hockey is one of your fantasy sports, then the Lounge is still the best place to come and talk!

The Fantasy Lounge Forums are a great way to keep on top of all of the information and happenings for all fantasy sports; everyone reads the updates and the articles here and elsewhere, but here, talking it out with other accomplished fantasy owners helps you to solidify that information into solid plans for winning leagues. The site has a great combination of knowledgeable posters without being so big that your threads get lost in the shuffle. I couldn't recommend another fantasy forum more.

One day I was on the internet and I came across the Fantasy Lounge. I thought to myself "Wow this is a really great website where you can get fantasy advice from helpful and intelligent members, I think I will stick around with these gentlemen." After I discovered how nice and helpful the members I decided to stick around and "Lounge Around With The Best" as you might say. I am a proud member of the Fantasy Lounge and I have been here two years and counting. Thank you Fantasy Lounge for your great advice, free draft kits, and helpful weekly articles.

I am a veteran of the old Fantasy Ref, who then became the first Fantasy Kings member and a mod there.  Whereas I am a moderator here now, I first came to participate in tri-forum events and found out there were some really good players here.   It became apparent to me that the place was very active in every area and there were great league opportunities.  Later on I realized that I wanted to contribute and signed on as a moderator.  I believe this site is an excellent blend of advice, competition and back-and-forth conversation, plus the staff is always open to new ideas.  The Fantasy Lounge even has a few guys who are overly modest, but if you try really hard sometimes you can draw them out...
